Matching
How does CMPTION decide who to show me?
It compares what you said you make and what you said you need against everybody else's answers, in both directions. A strong match is somebody whose gaps are your strengths and whose strengths are your gaps, not somebody who is popular. The score you see is that comparison and nothing else.
Can anybody pay to be shown more?
No. There is no paid placement, no boost, no tier and no promoted slot, and there is no column in the database to put one in. Follower counts are not collected and do not exist here.
I joined and there is nobody. Is it broken?
No. CMPTION is small, and matching looks for a real fit rather than filling a page. You stay in the matching queue, and when somebody compatible joins you are told. Nothing is ever invented to make the network look busier than it is.
Do XP, levels or trust affect who I am matched with?
No. The matching engine is given what you make, what you need and how you like to work. It has nowhere to put a level or a trust score, so neither can reach it.
Collaborations and chat
Who can message me?
Only somebody you have an accepted collaboration with. A match cannot message you, and neither can somebody whose request you have not answered. That is the whole privacy model: you agree to work with somebody before they can put words in front of you.
What happens when I delete a chat?
It comes off your list. The other person keeps theirs, and nothing either of you wrote is deleted, because half a conversation is not yours alone to erase. If either of you writes again it comes back.
What happens when I delete a message?
The text is overwritten rather than hidden, so there is no copy left anywhere. The line stays in the conversation marked as deleted, so the thread keeps its shape instead of developing a silent gap.
Can I work with more than one person at once?
Yes, with as many people as you like. The only limit is one live collaboration between the same two people at a time, so nobody can be asked the same thing eleven times.
Levels, quests and trust
What is XP for?
It is a record of what you have done here: finishing collaborations, being rated, filling in your profile, claiming quests. It sets your level and nothing else. It is not currency and it cannot be bought.
How high do levels go?
Fifty. There is no level 51. XP keeps counting after that; the level does not move.
Why did my quests change?
Daily quests roll over every day and weekly ones every Monday, on UTC. The set is worked out from the date and your account, so refreshing the page, restarting your phone and signing in somewhere else all give you the same quests until the period ends.
How is trust worked out?
From ratings people leave you after a collaboration you both finished, weighted by how many there are, how many different people you have worked with, and whether things got finished. One glowing rating from one person does not make anybody trusted, deliberately. A new account reads “New here”, which is the truth rather than a flattering default.
Can I rate somebody I did not work with?
No. A rating needs a collaboration you were both in and both finished, you cannot rate yourself, and you cannot rate the same collaboration twice or change what you said.
Your account
Do you need my real name or a photo?
No. A handle is a complete identity here. An email is optional and only used for getting back in, and nothing is copied from a Google account if you sign in with one.
What happens if I delete my account?
Everything that is only yours is deleted: your answers, your sign-in methods, your sessions, your notifications, your EYE conversations and the messages you wrote. Things that are also somebody else's, like a collaboration you finished together, stay with them, but your side of it is anonymised and taken off public pages. It cannot be undone.
What is EYE, and does it read my messages?
EYE answers questions about CMPTION and remembers only what you explicitly ask it to remember. It is not connected to any outside AI service, and it cannot see your private conversations with other people.
Somebody is bothering me.
Block them. They cannot message you, ask to collaborate, or turn up as a match, and they are never told. You can undo it in settings. If it is more serious than that, the safety page is the place to start.
