What you can expect from CMPTION, and what we expect from you. In closed beta, so some of it will change. We will say so when it does.

What CMPTION is

A place to find people to make things with. We introduce you and give you somewhere to agree what you are doing. We are not a party to anything you agree with another person.

What we do not do

• We do not take a cut of anything you make.
• We do not claim any ownership of your work. It is yours. It stays yours.
• We do not sell placement, priority, or visibility. Not now, not later.
• We do not decide who is right when two people disagree about money.

Agreements between you and somebody else

A mission written here is a statement of intent between two people, not a contract we enforce. If real money, rights or credit are involved, put that in writing between yourselves. If something goes wrong, you can raise a dispute and a moderator will look at what is recorded here. That is a record, not arbitration, and we cannot compel anybody to do anything.

Your account

• One person, one account. Accounts made to get around a block or a ban get removed.
• Do not pretend to be somebody else.
• Do not use CMPTION to break the law or to hurt people.
• You are responsible for what you post and what you send to other people.

When we act

We can warn, restrict, suspend or end an account, and we can take an entry out of the Hall. Every one of those is recorded and none of them can be quietly edited afterwards. We try to act on what is on the record rather than on who complained loudest.

There is no appeals process built yet. If you think we got it wrong, say so and a person will read it.

Beta

Things will break. Features will change. We will try not to lose your data and we take nightly backups, but this is a small operation and you should not treat CMPTION as the only place a piece of work exists.

Ending it

You can leave whenever you like, from your settings. We can close an account that breaks the rules above. Collaborations other people were part of stay on their record either way.
